Byers, Kenneth Alexander – 73, of Tatamagouche and Truro, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 surrounded by his family at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Sharron (Stevens); daughters, Stephanie Tatamagouche ; Jennifer (Gerald) MacKenzie, Valley; grandchildren, Adam, Ben, Christopher and Sara; mother, Doris (Byers) Creighton, siblings; David (Julia) Byers, Sackville, NB; Lynn (Ron) Forbes, Parrsboro; Barbara (Jim) Baird, Tatamagouche. He was predeceased by son, Thomas Gerald, father Gerald and his grandparents. Ken was employed with Air Canada for 35 years until his retirement when he was able to spend more time outdoors biking, working at the woodlot or enjoying time at the cabin. Ken had a sense of humour second to none, and was known for his knowledge of local history. For Ken, there was no greater love than that of his family. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He was a member of the United Church of Canada and IOOF Liberty Lodge 120, Tatamagouche. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the New Annan Heritage House (the former West New Annan United Church). A reception will follow at the family home, 300 Main Street, Tatamagouche.
