It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we the family of Stephen James Murphy announce his sudden passing on Thursday September 7,2017 following a heart attack at the cottage on the Mira.
Born in Glace Bay on Nov. 8 1950, Stevie was the eldest son of the late Herbert and Mary Murphy of Devison Lane.
Stevie worked at various jobs throughout his life, the most fulfilling on being a Lobster Fisherman aboard his boat the Fundy Lady with his daughter, Tracy and son, Bryne crewmates.
Stevie is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Tracy; son, Bryne; precious grandchildren, Kenneth, Emmah and Jayce; brother, Lonnie(Helen); sisters, Margie MacVicar, Sydney, Lorraine (Duane), Ontario, Delores (Wayne MacGillivary), Alberta; brother-in-law, Greg MacMullin and mother-in-law, Doris MacMullin. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and god children with whom he had a very close relationship, his extended family and many close friends especially Joe Pa.
Besides his parents Stevie was predeceased by his younger brother, Michael; brother-in-law, John and father-in-law, John MacMullin.
Visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church Marconi St Glace Bay with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Internment will take place at a later date.
