Kathryn (Kay) Violet (Fraser) Jardine, 94
Kay Jardine, 94, of New Glasgow, passed away on September 14, 2017 at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. A resident of New Glasgow for more than 70 years, she was born in Bridgeville, Pictou County to the late Ellen (MacIntosh) and Harris Fraser. In 1945, Kay graduated from the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for a short period of time in Truro following her marriage in 1946. Kay eventually joined the nursing staff at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, where she remained until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow and a proud life member of the Aberdeen Hospital Alumni. A powerful advocate for people with special needs, Kay was a founding member of Summer Street Industries and Highland Community Residential Services, both of New Glasgow. She greatly enjoyed books, music, her garden and spending time with her well-loved family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harry Dunbar Jardine; and her brothers Lloyd Ross (Beulah) Fraser, Eureka and Arthur Weldon (Marie) Fraser, Merigomish. She will be dearly missed by her family: daughter Heather (Ron) Clark, Halifax; son Bradley (Robin), Sinclair's Island; daughter Ellen, New Glasgow; daughter Janet (Gord) Hardy, Hardwood Hill; daughter Doreen (Joe) Novielli, Montreal; and daughter Tracey, Halifax; her four grandchildren: granddaughter Meaghan Clark, Halifax; and grandsons Luca, Jacob and Max Novielli, Montreal; her great-granddaughter Saskia Clinton, Halifax; and her step-grandchildren, Gord (Brenda) Hardy; Tanya Hardy; and step-great-grandchildren Ashlee and Tyler, all of Ontario. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces, who brought her great joy throughout her life.
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of the second floor at Glen Haven Manor for providing such remarkable care and always treating Kay like they would their own family - with dignity, respect and consistent competency. We can never thank you enough.
Family will receive friends and visitors at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with visitation on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 A.M. from the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev.
