It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Thomas Joseph Armstrong, age 84, retired employee of the Canadian Coast Guard, at the Health Sciences Centre on September 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Josephine Armstrong, parents-in-law Lena and John Norris and Mary Lundrigan Aylward; sister Catherine Hollohan, brother Bill, precious daughter Lillian (Armstrong) Kennedy and son-in-law Bobby Kennedy; brothers-in-law Leo and Kevin Hollohan, sisters-in-law Regina Armstrong and Mary Norris and nephew David Armstrong. Leaving with fond and wonderful memories of a lifetime together his loving wife of 62 years, Lena (Norris), beloved children Mary, Randy (Clare), Gerard (Patricia), Isabel (Chris); grandchildren Craig, Shawn, Robin (Rutanya), Tyler (Jhanna), Courtney (Darryl); Michele (Ray), Alexander and Leanna; great-grandchildren Ava, Isla and Bree; brothers; Robert (Agnes), Louie (Anita), Jimmy, Francie (Cathy), sisters, Monica and Josephine (Vince), sister-in-law Jean Armstrong and a large circle of relatives and friends especially Bill Carew at Pleasant View Towers. We wish to express our deepest gratitude for the prompt service, professionalism, care and compassion shown by the medical Emergency Room staff at the Health Sciences Centre especially in dad's final hours. A special thanks also to the staff at Pleasant View Towers 4NW for the excellent care and companionship shown to dad over the final years of his life. Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home, Bay Bulls, Saturday, September 16 from 5-9 pm and Sunday, September 17 from 2-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's RC Church, Witless Bay. Interment to follow at Holy Cross RC Cemetery, Witless Bay. Flowers graciously accepted or a donation may be made to Our Lady Star of Sea Parish.
