CASEY DONALD WYLDE

Born: December 18th, 1981

Passed in: SYDNEY, Nova Scotia
Passed on: September 20th, 2017

Casey Donald Wylde, age 35, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Casey was born on December 18, 1981 to devoted parents, Tom and Brenda.
He also leaves behind his younger brother, Kelly; beloved aunts and uncles, Mary and Joe Keough and Kim and Stan Cheney; special Godson, Noah MacDonald; as well as many cousins, special family, friends, and others whose lives he deeply touched. Casey was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a brittle bone disease that required many trips to many hospitals. Despite the trials he endured, and thanks to the unrelenting care and support of his loving parents, he never wore a frown. Even as his health deteriorated throughout his life, he never complained, or let on how much he was suffering. He was celebrated for his easy-going, polite demeanour, kindness and helpfulness to others and was known for his infectious laugh and wonderful, witty personality. He was small in stature, but mighty in spirit. Casey enjoyed computers, coding, and loved watching sports with his father. In his youth, he liked to watch wrestling, as well as his favourite hockey team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. As he got older, he became a fan of the Toronto Raptors and later the Toronto Blue Jays. He had the chance to meet many of his sports heroes throughout his life.
After graduating from UCCB, Casey lived independently for a number of years and worked for Public Health and Addiction Services, where he loved his coworkers. Casey was deeply religious. Most recently, he was planning a trip in a week’s time to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, but he found a more direct route to speak with the angels. Thanks to Dr. Steven MacDougall and staff for caring for Casey all his life and the ER and IMCU doctors and nurses who cared for him in his final days. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the Mass a reception will take place in the lower level of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Casey may be made to the CB Regional Hospital or charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.pierfuneralhome.com.
