John "Herbert" Oakes
The death occurred at Wedgewood Manor, Summerside on Wednesday September 20, 2017, of John “Herbert” Oakes, of Northam, aged 83 years, beloved husband of Pauline (nee Rodd). Born in Summerside on March 26, 1934, son of the late Merton and Angela (McInnis) Oakes. Loving father to James, Santa Cruz, California and Cheryl (Scott) Nahodil, Lowden, New Hampshire. Dear grandfather to Amanda Nahodil. Herbert is also survived by his sister Lois (Russell) Fillman, ON. and brothers and sisters in law Betsy Rodd, New Hampshire; Elmer (Sylvia) Rodd, Summerside; Major (Diena) Rodd, Winnipeg; Keith Rodd, Northam; Doris (Allison) Dennis, Arlington; Wanda (Clint) MacLean, Summerside; Eleanor (Wayne) Paynter, Kensington; Bernice (Ernest) Birch, Summerside; Earla Oakes, Charlottetown; Jean Ramsay, and Ruth (David) Hunter, Kensington. Predeceased by his parents, daughter Nancy (2005), son Gordon (2012), grandson Zachary, sisters Patricia and Ruth, brothers Gordon and Freddie, brothers in law Perley Rodd and Bloice Ramsay. Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel with no public visitation by family request. Funeral will be held on Monday September 25, 2017 at St. James Anglican Church, Port Hill at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. James Anglican Cemetery.
