Leo Douglas John Kean

Leo Douglas John Kean – 91, Upper Onslow, Nova Scotia. Born in London, U.K. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leo Douglas John Kean, August 5th, 2017 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is missed dearly by us all.

Leo, affectionately known as Lee by his friends and family, was a loving and devoted spouse to Edith Lillian Kean. He was also a loving and caring father to four sons - Trevor, Andrew, Robert and Ian (Rina) and an adoring grandfather to Shae (6 yrs), Liam (10 yrs) and Lhazin (14 yrs).

Lee was a grounding force and a guiding light to his entire family; full of pearls of wisdom, good conversation, encouragement and love. He would always work his way into your heart with his genuine charm, sentimental spirit and endearing sense of humour. He wanted family and friends to celebrate his life by thinking about the good times together and carrying them forward in their hearts.

Born and raised in London, Lee took a passion for old-town London lore and the Dickensian period. This; coupled with life-shaping experiences through the Roaring Twenties, Great Depression and World War II, enabled him to became a self-designed Londonologist. It was a daily ritual to see him in his favourite chair, lost in historic tales of his beloved city and Britain, in general. When he wasn’t enjoying family life or reading a good book, he could be found outside tending to his flowers; often with his grandchildren in-tow, a real English gardener at-heart.

Lee, an only child, is predeceased by his wife Edith, the love of his life for 60 years.

There will be no formal service and a private family interment has taken place. Donations in Leo's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.S. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, N.S.
