Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his family at Eastern Health Pleasant View Towers, St. John's, NL after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his parents Mary "Mida" and Joseph Gosse; brother and sister-in-law Leo and Mary Gosse; sisters and brothers-in-law Ann and Tom Campbell; Peg and Rock Campbell; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law of the Wilson family - Gerald and Clara Wilson, Capt. Ernest and Myrtle Wilson, Christina and John Rose, Alice and Paddy White, Carmel McCabe, Wilhelmina and Rick Reichlmayr, Agnes and Edward "Ned" Bruce, Paul Wilson, and Grace and John Weeks; infant grandson Garrett in 1997; daughter Arleen in 2002; son Kenny in 2017. Left to celebrate his life are his devoted wife of 62 yrs, Laura (Wilson); daughters Lynn (Gerry Wade) and Geralyn (Howie Hansford); son Glenn (Peg); grandchildren Erika Hansford (Rene Ritter), Samantha Hansford (Chris Vettorazzo), Allison Wade (Mike Wahl); Zach Wade and Ben Goss (Krysta Tobin) all of St. John's and Mt. Pearl; brother Maurice Gosse (Marie) of Florida, sisters Teresa Evans (Bob) of Truro NS and Mary Dickson of Sydney NS; sister-in-law Lillian Wilson; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves, with fond memories, many lifelong friends and colleagues. He was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his exemplary public service in Newfoundland and Labrador. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful professionals at Eastern Health - 1 Southwest, Pleasant View Towers. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. We are heartbroken to lose our husband, father, brother, father-in-law and Poppy. His passing leaves a huge hole in our family but we are content in knowing that he is finally at peace. The family will receive visitors at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John's, NL on Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral and Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Torbay Road on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 9:30 a.m. Cremation to follow and inurnment at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted. In his memory, consider doing an act of kindness for someone in need or a donation to a charity of one's choice.
