With sadness, we the family of James Andrew Postlethwaite, regret to announce his passing on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born March 5, 1931, in Sydney, he was the son of the late James and Bessie (Coleman) Postlethwaite.
James was a veteran of the Korean War. Until retirement, he worked as an electrician in the Open Hearth Department at Sydney Steel.
He is survived by his wife, Norma (Anthony); daughter, Raylene (Lowell) Johnstone; sons, Kevin (Sharon) and Sheldon (Mabel); sisters, Nora and Marjorie; brothers, Thomas and Bobby; daughter-in-law, Sandra; grandchildren, Robert (Yun) Johnstone and Rachael Johnstone (Christopher), Samantha, James, Timothy (Sarah) and David (Brittany) Postlethwaite, and great-grandchildren, Nora and Riley James.
James was predeceased by his sons, Bradley and Richard; sisters, Rose, Carol Ann and Marie, and brothers, Edward, John Wallace and John Wayne.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ the King on Wednesday, October 4 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Reg MacDonald officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
