Violet Mae Bishop, a woman of unwavering faith and undeniable strength, passed peacefully away on September 30, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Born in Great Brehat, she was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Canning. Her brothers Job, Gilbert, Charles and Andrew predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Maxwell John Bishop. She will always be remembered and loved by her daughter Paulette Gillis (Damien); son Tony; grandsons Adam Bishop (Amy), Matthew Bishop (Lori), and Lee Gillis; great-grandsons Max and Tyson Bishop; her unborn great-granddaughter whose arrival she was so anxiously awaiting; her special niece Linda Arnold (Ernie) whose visits she cherished; and many other precious family and friends. Sad goodbyes were said to her Glenbrook Lodge Nursing Home family who she spent the last 12 years of her life with. Their friendship and kindness will never be forgotten. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Monday, October 2 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Adam's Avenue, with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.
