Ebbie ‘Ebe’ (Antonello) MacDougall

With sadness we announce the passing of Ebe MacDougall on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Nursing Home, Sydney, at the age of 99 years. She was born on July 19, 1918 in Donkin, Cape Breton to the late Luigi and Roma Antonello.
Ebe grew up skating on the "Little Dam", swimming at the "Big Point" and working in her mother’s bountiful vegetable garden.
Ma enjoyed knitting and sewing and working in her flower gardens. She was a lover of nature and animals. Ebe was completely fluent in the Italian language corresponding with cousins in Italy through Christmas cards and letters.
Ebe is survived by her son, Bob (Beverly) MacDougall, and daughters, Linda (John) Prendergast and Helen (Steven) Lewis. She is also survived by grandchildren, Josh, Lara, Caitlin, Leon, and great grandchildren, Jack, Veida, Sadie, Zoe, Luke and Tianna.
Besides her parents, Ebe was predeceased by her loving husband, Duncan MacDougall; brothers, Mel, Enso, and her sister, Linda MacLean.
As per her wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A private burial will be held at a later date in St. Gregory’s Cemetery, Donkin.
