It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Norman Arthur Robar, age 77, on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at The Cove Guest Home, Sydney, with his family by his side.
Born on July 15, 1940 in Annapolis Royal, Norman was the son of the late Willis and Florence Robar.
Norman was a family man. He joined the Air Force in his younger years working with electronics. Later his electronic skills branched out to being employed with General Instruments, radio broadcasting in Ontario and eventually settling back in Cape Breton working as an audio-visual technician and human resources officer for CBU, as well as being heavily involved with Nova Scotia Government Employees Union before retiring.
Besides his working career, Norman loved the outdoors. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. As time went on he loved travelling with his wife, Barbara as they explored several off road trails creating new adventures together. For past time Norman enjoyed the hobby of making jewellery and spending time gardening with his wife. He will be remembered by family and friends for being a very intelligent loving man.
Norman will be sadly missed by his wife, Barbara; children, Gregory, Bruce Landry, Tracy (Lenus) Samson, Joey (Holly Lejeune) Landry, David (Allana), Deanna, Paul and Jolene; sister, Carol Anderson, and several grandchildren, Dawson, Gabrielle, Jordan, Jenna, Shantel, Kyle and Daniel.
Memorial service to celebrate the life of Norman Arthur Robar will be held in Pier Community Funeral Home, entrance on Church Street, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Following the service, light refreshments will be held in the funeral home reception area.
Donations in memory of Norman may be made to The Cove Guest Home.
