It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of John Robert Moore, announce his passing on October, 7, 2017.
Born October 5, 1935 in Harbour Breton, NFLD, he was a son of Clayton and Effie Moore. He moved to Louisbourg in 1956.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, working his way to Chief Engineer on several ships and retiring at age 67 as an engineer. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, hunting shows and catching up on the news. Most importantly, he was a loving man whose family meant the world to him.
Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his loving wife, Merna, who passed May 31, 2011 at the age of 69, and his daughter, Donna.
John is survived by children, John and Effie (Neil); brother, Walter (Gertie); grandchildren, John Edward (Juanita), Nick, Kayla (Adrian) and Cole; great-grandchildren, Blair (Laura), Brandy, Justin (his little buddy), Jerret, Chase, Cameron, Kelsey and Jackson. Also left to mourn is companion and partner, Peggy Hall
Visitation for John will take place Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at the S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A Celebration of his Life will take place immediately following at 3 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. Reception with the family to follow.
