It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Marie Delaney on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 18, 1943 in Sydney, Alice was the daughter of the late Raymond Delaney and Mildred (Whalen) (Delaney) Peddle.
Alice lived a simple life. Her faith was strong and she attended church regularly. Alice will be remembered by family and friends for being very loving and kind hearted.
Alice is survived by her brother, David in Hamilton; sister, Anne Madore in Oshawa; sister and loving caretaker, Barbara Mombourquette in Sydney; her loving companion, Ronnie Rice; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her brothers, Jimmy ‘Slim’, Bernie, Kevin, Pat and her dear sister, Mary Theresa Mombourquette.
As per Alice’s wishes there will be no visitation. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct.14, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the Mass, light refreshments will be served in the funeral home reception area at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street). Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Special Thanks is given to the all the healthcare workers who were instrumental in Alice’s care over the past few months. The family also wants to thank the staff of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
Donations can be made in Alice’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
