William Joseph (Joey)  Boutilier

It is with deep sorrow that we the family announce the passing of William Joseph (Joey) Boutilier, age 81, of Gardiner Mines on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
Born and raised in Gardiner Mines he was the son of the late Joe (B) and Catherine (Gouthro) Boutilier.
Joey was a faithful man who lived life large. He was a Coal Miner for many years. He played hockey with the Miners League, loved to hunt, fish and trap. Played horse shoes, tarabish and was one of the original GM Dart League Players, loved music and had a great talent for playing the Harmonica which he carried to many parties.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
Joey is survived by his wife, Mary (Hanrahan), of 57 years; sons, Joey, Ottawa, ON and Michael, Lower Sackville, NS; daughters, Debbie (Greg) Allen, Gardiner Mines, Geraldine (Andrew) Veres, Barrhead, AB and Karen (Brad) Kelly, New Waterford; grandchildren, Travis, Lucas, Mathew, Sean, Liam, Kelly, Rachel, Meagan, Amanda and Kaylin, and 17 great grandchildren. Also survived by siblings, Ellen (late Billy) MacKinnon, Caddie (late Art) Royal, Willie (Marg), Anne Marie and Alvin Boutilier; brothers-in-law, Richard (Georgette), Michael (Debbie), Roy and Danny Hanrahan; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunt, Christina Burke, and loads of friends, with special mention to his favorite Tarabish buddies, Verna and Findlay MacNeil.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 17, 2017 from 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday October 18, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Joeys life, all at the Tracey Family Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, 902-849-4199. A reception to follow the Celebration of Joeys life in the Gardiner Mines Community Centre, 6429 Seaside Dr.
