MacDONALD, Herbert Lawrence “Larry” -58, of Scotsburn, NS passed away October 14th 2017 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born on June 29, 1959 in Pictou. He enjoyed a life with family and friends. Larry loved to watch and play sports. He played hockey for many years and also enjoyed playing golf, kayaking, gardening and spending time in the outdoors. He was a dedicated employee of Sobeys for over 30 years. His free time was spent with family and friends and he cherished time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Larry was a son of Herbie and Muriel MacDonald and leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Mary (Baillie); his three children, Brandon (Candice), Kristen (Kristopher) and Barrett; four grandchildren, Noah, Amelia, Nathan and Keigan; siblings, Debbie (Steve), Dale (Lori), and Clifford (Beth). He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank-you goes out to Dr. Anne Kwasnik, Rhonda Langille, the nursing staff of Palliative Care and the VON Home Care nurses. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday from Scotsburn United Church, with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating. Private family burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Larry’s memory may be made to The Lodge That Gives, Halifax, the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or a charity of your choice.
