Elizabeth “Betty” Jean MacLean

Peacefully at the QEH, on Friday, October 13, 2017, surrounded by her family and best friend Blanche Ferguson, Betty MacLean (nee Larter) in her 76th year, went home to be with the Lord. She was the wife of the late Fred MacLean. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie Donovan, Barb McDearmid (Mark), Patricia Mulligan (Lenny), Tommy (Connie), April Taylor (Bob), Susie West (Danny), Richard (Dr. Rachel Goodwin), Tara Young (Paul) and Becky MacLean (Karl Ford); beloved Nannie of Derek MacLean (Fiona), Kelsie Donovan (Riley Grace), Mitchell Donovan (Carl Dicks); Colin McDearmid (Tracy Costello), Cara MacCormack (Kevin), Emily McDearmid; Sabrina and Nicole Anthony (Jordan Pederson); Ethan, Evan and Hannah MacLean; Jackie McKenna (Dave), Lauren West (Adam Lea), Kalvin West and Ben West (Lauren Coles); Caylan, Reid and Malcolm MacLean; Nathan MacQuarrie (Gwyn Moen), Ellen MacQuarrie (Dave Beaudoin), Jerred MacQuarrie (Jade Fougere), Leah MacQuarrie (Jonathan Trainor); Daniel Doucette (Katie), Chelsey Doucette and Kevin Doucette (Ashley Clinton); and Great Nannie to Isla and Kate MacLean; Aiden Grace; Dawson McDearmid; Landon McDearmid and Luke MacCormack; Jasper and Bella Anthony; and Victor Doucette. Betty is also survived by her sister, Nancy Claybourne (Brooks); and brother-in-law, Allan MacRae. Besides her late husband Fred, she was predeceased by her parents, Lem and Sue (nee Ford) Larter; siblings, Shirley MacRae and Jimmy Larter; son-in-law, Charlie Donovan; grandson, Andrew Anthony; great granddaughter, Lanah MacCormack; and special friend, Ray Sentner. Betty was a dedicated employee at Bluefield High School from 1978 to 1998 where she met many people and enjoyed many laughs. No visitation by personal request. Funeral will be held at Central Queen’s Funeral Home Chapel, 2538 Glasgow Road, on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Hampshire Cemetery with reception to follow at Hampshire Hall.
