MacDonald - George Dudley – age 79 of Yarmouth passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017. Born in Yarmouth, N.S. on August 7, 1938 he was a son to the late J. Dudley MacDonald and Catherine (Muise) MacDonald. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He started his working career at R.H. Davis in Yarmouth before moving to Malden, Massachusetts where he worked for Farnsworth Printing and then the General Electric plant in Everett, Massachusetts. In 1972 he moved back to Yarmouth with his family and worked at E.K Spinney’s before finishing his career at the Yarmouth Regional School Board. In his spare time George was a volunteer with the Yarmouth Fire Department for over 20 years and a supply officer with the local air cadets. George was also a talented clockmaker many of which his family still cherish. He is survived by his daughter Mary (Allen) MacDonald-Isnor, Halifax and their children Holly, Ainslie, Ashton, and Ethan; brothers, Harold (Bonnie), Yarmouth; Paul (Arlene), Melbourne; Daniel (Carol) Melbourne; sisters, Ellen Bannister, Ottawa, ON; Patricia (William) Murphy, Little River Harbour; Verna (Bob) Allen, Melbourne; and a special cousin who was like a brother, Ernest Steele (Verna) of Yarmouth. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen MacDonald (Dunn) and his granddaughter, Kayla Louise Isnor. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service took place Friday, October 20, 2017 at 2 P.M. from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Rev. Mr. Deacon Stephen Bourque officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. A reception in the Saint Ambrose Jubilee room followed the burial. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the I.W.K Grace Hospital. .
