It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Edith Norma Finney, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Monday, October 16, 2017, with her family by her side.
Norma was born in Glace Bay on June 17, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Thorald Hull and Olga (Wadman) Hull.
Norma was a member of the IODE (Coxheath) and a member of Rebekah Lodge #14 (Glace Bay) as well as Past District Deputy President of the Rebekah Assembly. She loved to sing in the Community Choir and Church Choir. She spent most of her working career as a master hairdresser. She was a friend to many.
Norma is survived by daughter, Sherryl Dale Finney; son, Stanley William (Edie) Finney, all of Georges River; brother, Lawrence (Barbara) Hull; sister, Judy (David) Hodder, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and of course her beloved Gemma.
Besides her parents Norma was predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley Herbert ‘Bert’ Finney in 2013; one brother, William ‘Bill’ (Lorraine) Hull, and sisters, Elaine (Gordie) MacDonald and Ruby (Stewart) MacPherson.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines.
