Audrey "Joan" (Taylor) Densmore

Densmore, Audrey “Joan” (nee Taylor) – Age 84, of Stewiacke, passed away October 18, 2017, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Joan was born in Milford, and lived most of her married life in Stewiacke. Her parents were the late Ralph and Merle (Creelman) Taylor.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Harry “Dan” Densmore.
She was loved and will be missed by children, Stephen Densmore (Sharon), Diane Dodge (Richard), Carla Densmore (Dean); her grandchildren, Mila Warren (James), Kari Densmore, Evan Densmore (Erin), Joli Densmore, Erin Dodge (Michael), Justin Dodge; four great-grandchildren. Joan is survived by her siblings, Ethel (McKeen) Allen, Shirley Newman; sisters-in-law, Shirl Murrie and Doris Densmore.
Joan worked for 30 years at a variety of positions; beginning with the Densmore owned family sawmill and moving on to bookkeeping and dispatching. She served the community for several years as a volunteer with Nova Scotia Housing Commission. Joan and Dan enjoyed music and dancing. They were square dancers for many years and continued old-time dancing throughout their lives. Joan enjoyed reading, theatre and movies, and liked to spend time with her family at the cabin at Shortts Lake. Joan was a loving and devoted matriarch to family and close family friends.
Joan’s family will host a Celebration of Life for family and friends on Saturday, from 2 -4 p.m., in St. Andrew’s United Church hall, 46 Main Street, Stewiacke. We will gather to share memories, tell stories, and celebrate the life of a woman who dearly loved her husband and family, and was generous to the community and strangers all.
Private family interment at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
