Helen Peddle

Passed on: October 24th, 2017

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Helen Clarice Peddle on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born April 18, 1929, Helen was the daughter of the late John Davis and Catherine (MacDonald) MacAulay.
Helen grew up working on the family farm, MacAulay Hennery, in Glace Bay, alongside her parents, siblings and many farm hands. That is where she developed her very well-known dislike for eggs and milk. Helen married the love of her life, Roy in September 1952 and moved to Sydney, where she raised her family.
Helen is survived by her husband, Roy; daughter, Nancy Moore (Anthony Bruha), St. Albert, AB, and son, Jay Peddle (Noelle Harvey), Westmount; grandchildren, Dan Moore (Chris O'Gorman), Ottawa, ON, Sheena Moore Wheadon (Brett), Edmonton, AB, Josh Musgrave (Jenna Brushett) and Rebecca Peddle, both of Moncton, NB, and great-grandchild, Jayce Musgrave. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald (Eileen) and Jack (Julia) MacAulay; brother-in-law, Charlie Palmer, and special niece, Linda MacKinnon.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Marion Heaton and Marg Palmer; brothers, Alister and Fraser MacAulay, and grandson, Samuel Peddle in infancy.
She will be missed by many, especially all the children she loved so much. We will miss her beautiful smile.
Thanks to all who supported her in her final years, especially Vonda Harvey; Dr. Myatt and Janice; Dr. Anne Frances D'Intino and the caring staff at CBRH.
Respecting Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, the An Cala Palliative Care Unit or a charity of one’s choice.
Keep the faith. Love each other.
Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
