It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Chesley Edwin Caines, October 27, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loving family at his side.
Chesley was the son of the Late Edwin and Alice (Hillier) Caines.
Chesley served in the Merchant Marines in WWII; upon leaving the Marines, he worked for 25 years at the Sydney Steel Plant. Chesley’s passion was fishing which he pursued along with his sons and grandson until his retirement at 86.
Chesley is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; daughter, Linda (Earl) Head; sons, Louis, Raymond, David (Alice), Wayne (Juliette) and Donnie, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Cecil; sisters, Mary, Effie and brother, Stan.
Visitation for the late Chesley Caines will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay with a graveside service to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
