Peacefully, with family by his side at Cornwall Hospice on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 64 wonderful years to Gaye Spinney (née Irwin). Loving father of Lynne Gillies (Brad Edmunds), Karen Spinney, and Greg Spinney (Yuridia E. Cuevas). Proud grandfather of Michael Helmer and Kalynn Helmer (Aaron Fournier). Dear brother of Mildred Irwin, Dorothea Baldwin and Bettie Anne Boulter. Predeceased by his parents Colonel J.O. Spinney and Bettie Spinney (née Robertson); his brother John Spinney and his sister Jeanne Dunlop. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held in the Reception Centre of the Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, ON (613) 525-3400 on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 1-4 pm. Toasts & Eulogies will commence at 3 pm. An interment will be held in St. George, NB at a later date. Memorial donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Carefor Hospice Cornwall would be appreciated by the family.
