Becky was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia but was raised in Dartmouth with her three sisters and brother. She acquired the best sense of humour in the MacLean household. She graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1969 and moved to Wolfville to attend Acadia University and complete a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. It was at Acadia that she met her future husband, Richard in 1970. They married in 1971 while working on their degrees. Becky graduated in 1973 and she and her husband relocated to Calgary, Alberta while she advanced her degree to become a Registered Dietician. In 1974, Becky & Richard returned to Nova Scotia to further their careers and begin a family. In 1978, Becky left her position as a Registered Dietician to become a full-time Stay-At-Home Mom. She gave birth to her daughter in 1978 and her son in 1982. In 1989, Becky returned to work part-time and assisted her husband to manage R&B Pro Shop in White Point, Nova Scotia, until 1995. She was a Girl Guide leader during the mid-1980's and volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society as a canvasser for donations. She handmade numerous Halloween costumes & contributed to several bake-sales & school activities for her children. She had a great love for literature and read stacks of library books as well as cookbooks each week. Her other pastimes included gardening, walking on the beach, playing cards and looking after the stray cats in her neighborhood. She will be remembered for the best spaghetti recipe in Nova Scotia. Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Nancy MacLean. Becky is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; daughter Janet Dumeah (Aaron Whynot) of Toronto; son Robert Dumeah of Edmonton; sisters Judy MacLean, Gayle MacLean and Heather Wildsmith all of Dartmouth, and brother Peter MacLean of Greenwood.
