David William Johnston

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David William Johnston, age 90, on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, following a brief illness.
David was born in Little Bras d’Or, September 6, 1927, he was a son of the late Charles and Annabel (MacKenzie) Johnston. David graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and operated Springfield Farm on Johnston Road all of his life.
David is survived by a brother, Gordon Johnston, Georges River; sister-in-law, Patricia (late John) Johnston; his chosen family, Danny O’Handley; nephews, David (Rose) Johnston, William (Jennifer) Johnston, and seven grand nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John Johnston and Wilbert Johnston, and sister-in-law, Kaye (MacLeod) Johnston.
Visitation for David will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, November 18 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, followed by words of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or to a charity of choice.
