Age 79 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 3, 2017 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Deer Lake, NL she was a daughter of the late William and Maude Jefferies. She was loved by all who knew her. She loved to cook and bake for everyone. Her house was always open to friends and family. She left Newfoundland many years ago, but Newfoundland was always in her heart. She was fiercely proud of her home province. Verna will be missed by her daughters Debbie (Randy) King, JoAnn (Ernie) MacLeod, Shari Green; son Pierre; daughter Sonya (Patrick) Green; grandchildren Robert (Jennifer) King, Steven (Katie) King, Corry (Trevor) Taylor, Dylan Bennett, Amanda (Andy) Feeney, Sammy (Sidney) MacLeod, Jasmine (Danny) Green, Sarah Green, Sawyer Hendricks, Lily Hendricks; six great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Ball; brother Bill (Jenny) Jefferies. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Bruce; son Gregory Melvin Green; daughter Giselle Diane Bennett; and eight brothers and sisters. Donations may be made to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halifax, or the Boys and Girls Club of Canada. Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm, Saturday, November 11 in Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road, Dartmouth. Interment will take place in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Nantucket Ave, Dartmouth, on Tuesday, November 14 at 2 pm.
