With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, and grandfather, Clifford Ronald Hill. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley (Clement); daughter, Sharon (Bud Goes); and sons, Craig (Brenda McNevin) and Bruce (Carla Repin). Ron also leaves six grandchildren, Courtney (Andrew Clarke), Cameron Goes, Connor and Victoria Hill, and Emily and Emerson Hill. He was always proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed the many fun times they had together. Ron was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Sask., son of Ollie and Cliff Hill. He attended Central Collegiate and was President of the student body, as well as receiving the Governor General Medal in 1947, his graduating year. He was also active with the Youth Parliament, 1946-1950. Ron received a B.A. from the University of Sask. (1950), a D.D.S. from the University of Alta. (1954), and a Diploma in Orthodontics from the University of Toronto (1967). During his university years he was active with C.O.T.C. and attained the commission of Major (Dental Corps). Ron and Shirley were married in 1954, and settled in Shellbrook, Sask. where Ron practiced General Dentistry (1954-1965). During the Shellbrook years, Ron was very active with the United Church, Masonic Lodge, School Board, and many other organizations. He also became interested in hunting, fishing, and the cattle business (Pure Bred Gelbvieh), during these years. Following post grad work in Toronto, the family moved to Saskatoon where Ron began his Orthodontic practice with Drs. Paul Henderson and Jim Horn, in Triple H Orthodontics. He was also very active serving on a number of dental boards and committees. He was a Clinical Professor in Orthodontics in the College of Dentistry at the Univ. of Sask. from 1971-1994. He served on the Cleft Palate Clinic team at Royal University Hospital for 10 years. Ron was also a member of the board of C.D.S.P.I., in association with the Canadian Dental Assoc. for 12 years. Ron was active in the Saskatoon Kiwanis Club, Masonic Lodge, and Usadians. Other interests were beekeeping, golfing, and music. Shirley and Ron enjoyed many travels and cruises, and fishing trips to their cottage at McTavish Lake in northern Saskatchewan during their 63 years of marriage. Upon retirement in 1995, Ron and Shirley relocated to Parksville, BC. Happy years included golfing, Good Sam Travel Club, and serving on many committees at Knox United Church, as well as visits with their families in Victoria, Calgary, and London, Ont. Special thanks to the kind and caring staff at Qualicum Manor where Ron resided for nearly 5 years. A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 13th, 2017 at Knox United Church, 345 Pym Street in Parksville, BC.
