BARNEY’S RIVER – H. Cameron Williams, 66, Barney’s River, passed away, Monday, November 13, 2017, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy “Dot” (Murdock) Williams. In 1974, Cameron and his brother, Gary, formed C. & G. Williams Bulldozing. In 1978, joined by brother, Eric, they acquired Williams Bros. Ltd. and Mill River Trucking. In 2014, son Adam and nephew Joel partnered in the business. Cameron was an active member of Barney’s River Presbyterian Church; UCT Pictonian Council; Hudson’s Lodge No. 77 A.F & A.M., Thorburn; Philae Temple Shriners; Forest Nova Scotia; and Maritime Lumber Bureau. He was a devoted father and grandfather and loved to support his children and grandchildren in all of their sports and activities. He took great pride in his draft horses and was a recent exhibitor at Draft Horse Exhibitions throughout Nova Scotia.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 43 years Colene (Bannerman); children, Alana (Steven) Mason, MacLellan’s Brook; Adam (Carla), Barney’s River; Andrew (Christine), Little Harbour; Elisabeth (Marc) Bildstein, Mount Uniacke; Lindsay (Gary) Mahar, MacLellan’s Brook; Matthew (Sara), Barney’s River; grandchildren, John, Lydia and Natalie Mason; Garrett, Allie and Shanna Williams; Lawrence and Kendal Williams; Russell Bildstein; Faith, Lila and Gary Mahar; Cameron and Callum Williams; and two more grandchildren due to arrive in January; brother, Eric (Jean), Barney’s River; sisters, Wendy (Robert) Ross, Barney’s River; Shelley (Lawrence) MacDonald, Avondale; sister-in-law Janice Williams, Egerton; mother-in-law Nova Bannerman, Barney’s River; brothers-in-law Brent (Helen) Bannerman, Antigonish; John (Laurie) Bannerman, London, Ontario; Blair (Tina) Bannerman, Barney’s River; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; his faithful dog Roscoe and his beloved horses.
He was also predeceased by infant son, Jonathan; brother, Gary and father-in-law A. Donald Bannerman.
The family will receive visitors, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Hudson Lodge Masonic Service will be held at 5:30 pm Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 in Barney’s River Presbyterian Church, Kenzieville, with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. Interment will be in Glen Bard Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Cameron’s memory to Barney’s River Presbyterian Church or the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
