Ethel Marie Adelia Holland

Born: August 11th, 1936

Passed on: November 13th, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the news that our mother Ethel Marie Adelia Holland, 81 passed away on November 13, 2017.
Born August 11, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Annie Lewis.
She is survived by her siblings, Donnie Lewis, Earle Lewis, Rena Carew, Sandy Lewis and Leo Lewis; children, Catherine Holland, Mary Holland, Tim Holland, Earle (Shannon) Holland and Angela (Mark) Crittenden. She had 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her stepmother, Eileen; sons, Paul and Bert; siblings, Arthur, Anna, Tom and Charlie.
Mom spent the past year in the Cove Guest Home, where she was taken care of by their wonderful staff. They all seemed to appreciate her sauciness, which means she must have liked them too. She lived in the pier for 50 years previous to that and I think everyone knew her, as we often heard “You’re Ethel’s, aren’t you?” She spent many years playing darts at the legion and also sang with the legionnaires. She was happiest when she was out Irish Vale, in the home she lived in when she was younger, playing crib in the kitchen looking over the Bras d’Or.
She will be remembered for her charismatic personality, sharp tongue and her ability to make people smile. She was a witty woman and always quick with a comeback.
We would like to thank all of the wonderful care workers who helped take care of our mother over the past few years. It is you who made her life as comfortable as it was. We are forever grateful to you all.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 with a funeral service 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 18 both at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Words of comfort may be sent to her family by visiting www.twcurry.com.
