Sister Christine was born in Harbour View, Inverness County, on May 4, 1928. She was the daughter of Murdoch Beaton and Mary Christina MacDonnell.
Her early education took place in Harbour View School and St. Joseph Convent, Mabou and she completed her higher education in St. Francis Xavier University and in Orano, Maine.
