Zita Maria Armishaw

Born In: Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia

Passed in: Sydney River, Nova Scotia
Passed on: November 13th, 2017

Our hearts break again as we say goodbye to a very loving, kind and giving person. Our mother and sister Zita passed away peacefully, November 13, 2017, at Harbourstone Nursing Home, Sydney River.
Born in Reserve Mines she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Jane (Kanary) Marsh. Zita was a longtime member of Saint. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines and was an active member and an officer of Saint Joseph’s CWL; constantly showing her commitment and dedication to her community and her church.
Her greatest joys were her times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; playing cards, listening to their news and watching their joy, especially at Christmas. She was a loving and loyal center to her family - her siblings, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed! Zita persevered in these roles for her family, strengthening her depth of commitment after her husband, Bert passed away too soon in October of 1975.
She also enjoyed bowling, skating, golfing, dancing, playing the slots and playing cards with Isabel. She remained active and engaged throughout her life, particularly enjoying interacting with others.
Zita is survived by her daughters, Marsha (Ron), Bertine and Nan (Joe); son, Joe (Mikki); grandchildren, Leslie, Tony (Jennifer), Ellen (Jonathan), Mellissa, Joey (Samantha), Sienna (Andrew), Jeff (Danielle), Emma, and Ben; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Bridget, Ezra, and Laurel, Ella and Shane, Gavin and Liam, Natalie and Madeleine. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Marie; brothers, Fr. Anthony and Joseph; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, Bert, Zita was also predeceased by brothers, Joseph, James, Alphonse, Dennis, Sylvester, Henry, Stewart, Coady and Gannon ‘Brother Ninian’; sisters, Mary Ann, Dolores, Dophie, Gilbert and Maurina.
There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of V.J.McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating. Interment will take place in the parish Cemetery.
A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in support of the Saint Joseph Parish Cemetery.
At this time, we would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff at Irish Cove for their kindness and attention.
