It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Nina Marie (Capstick) Thomas, on Friday, November 17, at the age of 66, after a long struggle with cancer.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 23, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Rachael (Donovan) Capstick. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Nina loved to listen to music and read, and had a good sense of humour.
She is survived by her only son, Leo Thomas (Michelle); granddaughter, Kaitlyn, and grandson, Connor, all of Toronto, Ontario. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and she loved them all. She was a kind and loving person.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Delphine, Margaret, Mary, Janie, Helen and Catherine, and brothers, Peter, Patrick, Murdock, and Michael in infancy.
Many thanks to the Red Cross, the Canadian Cancer Society, and all the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Also, special thanks to her cousin, Louise McLean; friend, David Robertson, and her neighbours, for all their help, love and support over the past year.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place.
A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held Thursday, November 23, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with Fr. James Oliver officiating.
