It is with sadness that the family of Gerald Joseph Penney announces his passing in Kitchener, Ontario on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Jerry was a lifelong and active resident of Glace Bay and Marion Bridge, Nova Scotia.
Jerry was a retired employee of the Cape Breton Development Corporation. He was employed as a miner, a security officer, and as a member of mine rescue teams. During his time as member of the Security force, Jerry represented his peers as president of their CUPE union local. Jerry was a lively outdoorsman and an avid hunter. He enjoyed travel, especially when it involved visiting his extended family. Jerry and his wife, Catherine could often be seen with friends dancing on Saturday nights at the local seniors’ centers. He enjoyed life to the fullest!

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his daughters, Sherry MacDonald (Bernard) and Christina Brean; his sons, Brian and Robert Penney (Kori) and his sister, Diane Francis.
