Colp, Clyde Harris, age 88, of Eagle Head, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2017, in Queens General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 9th, 1928, in Halifax, he was a son of the late Linwood and Evelyn (Leslie) Colp. Clyde went to sea at a very early age. Following his sea career with the Markland Shipping Company Limited, he worked at Bowater Mersey Paper Company Limited as a rigger and retired as foreman. He married Rosalind Marjorie (McKinnon) as a young man. He was a lifelong member of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Eagle Head, acting as Warden many times. He and his wife Rosie were very active in the construction of the new hall and in the re-building of St. John’s Church after the fire that destroyed the old one. He is survived by daughters, Louise (Gerald) Gaetz, of Beach Meadows, Deborah Boyce, of Eagle Head, Marilyn “Mitzie” (Douglas) Kent, of Beach Meadows, Becky Colp (Joseph Masella), of Kirkland, Quebec; son, David (Anna), of Bramalea, Ontario; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosalind (McKinnon) whom he mourned; sisters, Violet Baron, Shirley Himmelman and brother, Albert. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Service, Liverpool. A Celebration of Clyde’s Life will be held on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., from St. John’s Anglican Church, Eagle Head with Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Eagle Head. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation or to St. John’s Anglican Church, Eagle Head.
