PORTER, (Nickerson), Lilla E.
Age 65, Port Saxon, passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2017, with her husband by her side, following a courageous four year-long battle with cancer. Born in Sandy Point she was a daughter of Elsie and the late Ashton Nickerson. Lilla was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She spent 30 years working as an assistant manager at the Bank of Nova Scotia. She enjoyed crafts, going to camp, deer hunting and being one of two of the “Lighthouse Sisters”, favorite song being “Just Find Jesus”. She pastored a church at a campground in Florida for many years. She was a kind, generous person who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lilla always looked forward to the texts that her son Troy sent her every morning telling her he loved her. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, John; mother Elsie (stepfather Ed) Owen; son, Troy (Connie) Porter; grand-daughters, Alyiah and Breanna; brother, Ashton Nickerson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Ashton Nickerson Sr.; sisters Bonnie, Audrey, and Gail. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 12 at 11 a.m. from Calvary Baptist Church, Wood’s Harbour with Pastor Phil Williams presiding. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Roseway Hospital or Tri-County Victorian Order of Nurses.
