DOUCETTE, Elizabeth Emilie – Age 93, of the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2017 in the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 19th, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Cyriac and Leonise (Boudreau) Pothier. Elizabeth and her family moved to Wedgeport, Nova Scotia in 1926. She moved to Halifax in 1952 and worked as a homemaker until 1966. She was an Associated Member of the Wedgeport Legion Branch 155 and the Senior Citizens in Wedgeport. In her younger years Elizabeth enjoyed knitting, playing cards, playing the piano, reading, and listening to music. Elizabeth is survived by her sisters-in-law, Cecilia Doucette, and Delora Pothier; several cousins; nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew Doucette in 1984; and a brother, Joshua Pothier in 1991. Elizabeth was a wonderful person and she will be sadly missed. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport, where visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. in the Wedgeport Funeral Home with prayers at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30th. A funeral mass was held on Friday at 2 p.m. from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Father Albenie d’Entremont officiated. A burial was held in the parish cemetery following the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Saint Michael’s Cemetery Fund. The family would like to thank the staff at the Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac for the wonderful care they gave Elizabeth during the years she was there.
