The death of Geneva Jane King of Woodstock and formerly of Alberton, P.E.I. occurred on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville, N.B. Born March 24, 1932 in Greenfield, N.B. she was the daughter of the late Beverley and Florence (Girouard) White. She was predeceased by 1 brother, Garfield "Bud" White; 1 sister in law, Mona White. Prior to her marriage to Don King in 1953, Geneva taught school in various places in the Centreville area. After marriage, Geneva and her husband Don (who was involved in the field of education) moved to Campbellton, Bathurst and then to Kenya for 5 years. During her time in Kenya she became aware of the many challenging issues facing families in that part of the World. She joined the East Africa Women's League to aid with the needs of families there. From Kenya, Geneva and Don moved to Iqaluit (then Frobisher Bay) for 4 yrs were Geneva was the Town's Public Librarian. Then to Alberton, P.E.I. where Geneva was very involved with UNICEF and the Women's Institute serving in various capacities with each service group. Geneva is survived by her husband, C. Donald King; 6 children, Reginald King (Ruby), Veronica Harley (Larry), Michael King, Joseph King (Linda), David King and Charles King; 5 grandchildren, Michelle King, Melissa King, Jacquelyn King (Brian Stenyk), Stephanie King and Marcel King; 2 great grandchildren, Lexie and Fischer; 1 brother, Gilbert "Gib" White sister in law, Sadie White; special friend, Jan MacDonald as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. from St. Leo's Catholic Church, 60 Perkins Way, Florenceville-Bristol.
