Raymond Power Cavanagh – 85, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Centreville, he was a son of the late Charles and Ruth (Barnaby) Cavanagh. He had been employed with T.P. Calkin, Steadman’s, Scotian Gold, Rockwell Home Hardware and Cobi Foods for a number of years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, woodcarver and painter of folk art. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doreen (Young); two daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Gaul, North Alton; Lynn (Don) Cavanagh-Dollard, Centreville; three grandchildren, Lyndon Cavanagh-Dollard, CFB Bagotville, Quebec; Caitlyn Cavanagh-Dollard, Kingston, Ontario and Falyn Cavanagh-Dollard, Hatchet Lake, Halifax County; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Green and Doris McLean; a brother, George. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation or funeral service, by request. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Osteoporosis Canada or Glaucoma Research Society of Canada.
