David Riordon

RIORDON, DAVID - 1948 - 2011 - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John David Riordon on this, the 4th day of May, 2011 at the age of 62. With his wife and family at his side, David passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home in Pokeshaw, after a brief illness. Born in Pokeshaw, David is the son of Eileen Riordon and the late Raymond Riordon Sr. (1982) of Pokeshaw, NB. Besides his father he is reunited in peace and love with his older brother Raymond (Sandra) Riordon Jr. (1981) and his younger brother Capt. Terry (Susan) Riordon (1999). As a youngster, David was a curious child who loved to take apart household items just to see how they worked. This same quality followed him through his life and made him everybody’s handyman; he was fondly known to family and friends as “Pokeshaw’s Macgyver”. After 32 years with NBTel David retired and spent quality time with the woman of his dreams. They worked through life side by side and later spent time traveling to visit with their children and grandchildren- their pride and joy. A lover of the great outdoors and all it’s wonders, his beautiful bright blue eyes couldn’t get enough of God’s glorious skies. David has left us all with the indelible mark of love and kindness and he will forever be cherished in our hearts. David is survived by his devoted wife, soulmate and best friend Viola Riordon, and his cherished children Rhonda (John) Whelton, of Ontario, Hydie (Hugh) Riordon of Fredericton, Stacy (Victor) Murty of Saint John and Barry (Lorena) Riordon of Taymouth, NB. As well as nine grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Jordan, Ashley and Allisha, William, Travis, Matthew, Kayla, Thomas and Grace. David’s brothers and sisters are Danny (Ellen) Riordon of Ontario, Frank (Dianna) Riordon of Pokeshaw, Elaine (Preston) Knowles of Clifton, Alma (Marc) Cormier of Bathurst, and Coleen Riordon of Halifax, NS, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The body will rest with LeGresley’s Funeral Home in Grande Anse, NB. Visitation will take place Friday, May 6th, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and Saturday, May 7th from 10 to 12 am. Funeral mass will be held at St. Simon and St. Jude Church in Grande Anse, NB on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 2 pm. For those who wish to offer remembrances of David, donations can be made to the Lodge Mgr Henri Cormier or to a charity of your choice. God Bless. Funeral arrangements are in care of LeGresley's Funeral Home, Grande-Anse (732-2820)
