Allison Fraser Grover

Allison Fraser Grover
It is with sadness we announce the death of Allison Fraser Grover.
Born in Canso, Nova Scotia, in July 1934, Allison longed his whole life to be in his beloved hometown, to be on its shores, or near its waters.
His mother was Amy Eliza (Armsworthy) Grover, and his father was Howard William Grover. Allison had a big family; with Marguerite Prosser, his first wife, he had Patricia (Patsy), Brock, Fred, Andy, and Michael, and with Ernestine (Reid - deceased), his second wife, he had Eric, Scott, Amy and Howard (Sandy). He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In the 1950s, Allison attended night school in Halifax. He was employed in a boiler room, he shoveled coal, and he bar tended. He also drove a truck for the city and was a part-time bailiff. He was a chauffeur for National Defense. He was a policeman in Hansport, Nova Scotia, and Georgetown, PEI. He was employed as a prison guard at Dorchester Penitentiary and had 27 years of Public Service.
For good or ill, Al had a huge appetite. He adored all foods, especially seafood. He was an excellent swimmer, marksman, and enjoyed tending his apple trees. He had a fury for his enemies and a heart for those he liked. He was strong, stubborn, and handsome.
You leave a lasting impression on those who knew you, you will not be forgotten.
A special thanks to the Drew Nursing Home and the staff and doctors who took care of him.
Cremation has taken place, and no funeral service will take place, as per his wishes. Donations will accepted by Jones Funeral Home for the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
