SIMPSON, Daniel Andrew “Danny” - 71, Great Village, passed away peacefully in his sleep listening to Barry White after a valiant battle with cancer on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. His last thoughts were of his family and probably on how he will get his “seniors discount” in heaven. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he was the son of the late Elaine Bird and Robert Ambridge. Danny spent 35 years with the federal government as a policy and legislation employment insurance agent, having received numerous recognition and employment awards for innovative ways to improve benefit and appeal procedures. He served as a volunteer with Great Village Fire Brigade, a member of Saint James United Church and Thirsty Church and was the reining champ in an annual horseshoe tournament. He enjoyed playing pool, building bon fires, cleaning glass off beaches and expressing himself with his favorite vernacular. Danny enjoyed his retirement catching no fish and watching the tide come and go in the Minas Basin. His wife, Wanda Simpson, will always think about you (Danny) and how you’d be walking side by side and reach for her hand and how all the little things you did made her feel so special. She knows how lucky that makes her feel, and how deeply she is in love with you. As a loving husband and as a loving father, he leaves behind a legacy in his children, Shane (Jassandre) Simpson and Staci Simpson and in his granddaughter, Lexa Adamyk-Simpson. He will be missed by his many friends and family. Danny was much loved by his sisters, Susan, Nancy and Rene (Ron); loving uncle to Jason (Paula), Kelly (Jeff), Nancy (Clay), Lindsay (Luke), Jenny (Andrew) and Chris (Kaitlyn); great uncle to Kiahna (Josh), Brooklyn, Quin, Morgan, Alex and Olivia. “Hug coming through the wire”. In keeping with Danny’s wishes, he was not one for a fuss so there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial service and private family interment will be held at a later date.
