It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Neil Riley Matthews at his home in Charlottetown on Friday December 29, 2017 aged 78 years. Neil was a well-known P.E.I. musician and entertainer. Born in Sea View, March 26, 1939, son of the late Edgar and Mildred (Blakeney) Matthews. Husband of Shelley (nee Warren) Matthews. Father of Darlene Matthews (Herman), Billy Matthews (Helen), Ricky Matthews (Eileen), Julie Matthews-White (Paul), Dawn MacDonald and Kirk MacDonald. Grandfather of Blu (Karen), Dallas (Connie), Brandon (Jen), Jeremy, Marcy, Zaria, Riley, Morgan Mika, Marissa and Marshall. Great grandfather of Claire, Danielle, Matthew, Kaylee, Jackson, Alex, Emily and Isaac. Brother of Mary O’Dell. Brother-in-law of Rosemary Matthews. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Garth Matthews. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home, Charlottetown for visitation on Tuesday from 2:30-4 p.m. and then to the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment later in People’s Cemetery Malpeque.
