Margaret (Margie) Theresa McDougall

It is with sadness we, the family, announce the death of Margaret ‘Margie’ Theresa McDougall of Glace Bay. Margie passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital on December 26, 2017. Born June 11, 1928 in Glace Bay Margie was the youngest daughter of the late Dougall and Bridgette (McIntyre) McDougall.
Margie enjoyed her younger years with laughter and fun. She loved to go to dances and play bingo. She enjoyed her many years of work at Toby’s Ladies Wear in Glace Bay. Margie was always very dedicated to her immediate family. She spent many years taking care of her aging parents and her brother Allan, plus she was very supportive to her siblings that went on before her. Margie was a life-long member of St Anne’s Parish and had a deep faith that sustained her to the end of her life.
Other than her parents, Margie was predeceased by her brothers, Hughie (Josie), Allan, Danny (Jean), Archie (Annie Theresa), and by her sister, Elizabeth (Mike) Dunphy.
Margie is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousin, Joan (John) Nicholl, and by her dear friend, Mary Clarke.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to her nephew Allan and his wife Cathy for all the care they had given to Margie. We would also like to express a special gratitude to Dr. Cadegan for his excellent care of Margie and for his exceptional support to the family throughout Margie’s illness. Also, thank you to the nursing staff on 3 West at the Glace Bay Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
As per Margie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J Tracy Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St. Glace Bay. Mass will be celebrated by Rev Anthony O’Connor at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018.
