Paula Kathleen Graham

Paula passed away at 48 years, on December 31, 2017 at An Calla, the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
She was predeceased by her father, Ray Graham.
Paula is survived by her immediate family, mother, Joan; her sister, Helen, and her brothers, Robert and Raymond. She is also survived by her sisters of choice, Michelle Ross and Debbie MacDonald along with her extended family, including her beloved dog, Avary, her constant companion for 10 years.
Paula had spent the last 14 years working in the Diagnostic Imagining Department at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Prior to that, she worked as a Paralegal in law firms in Kentville and Dartmouth. Despite a long battle with ovarian cancer, Paula found peace in the last few years through a new love of art and photography. Finding an eagle, a fox family, a beautiful sunset, an interesting tree, became an obsession with Paula. She and Avary drove around many Cape Breton back roads looking for the perfect picture.
The Art of Living and Art of Medicine Programs at the Cancer Centre of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital gave her a renewed passion for life. Thank you to Tom MacNeil and wildlife photographer, Kris Tynski for their encouragement in Paula’s artistic endeavors. In the last few months, Paula also developed new projects with Hospice music therapist, Jill. A special thanks to all the physicians and staff at the Palliative Care Unit and Cape Breton Cancer Centre who took such great care of Paula over the last number of months. Paula developed a special bond with the amazing staff and volunteers at the An Calla unit.
A Celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Chant’s Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
