88 years of age passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre, St. John’s, NL. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Lena Stone and great-grandson Theil Jenkins, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Fred Durant, Elizabeth (Bud) Dawe, Russ (Inez) Durant and Roy (Aleta) Durant; grandchildren: Joanne (Darrell) Mercer, John (Laurie Sthan) Durant, Carolyn (Blaine) Jenkins, Kim (Roddie) Kieley, Peter (Pilar Iglesias) Durant, Lucas (Amanda Weeks) Durant, and Thomas (Caroline Corriveau) Durant; great-grandchildren: Luke and Alex Mercer, Mariah and Theia Jenkins, Benson and Olivia Kieley, Lola and Zara Durant; daughter-in-law Judy Sellars Durant. Also remembered by a host of family and friends near and far. Maxine was a beautiful person inside and out, she was a single mother of four children whom she adored. While working she completed her own professional education and continued to provide and support her four children in their endeavors to obtain a meaningful professional way of life. She was a very outgoing individual who loved curling, was an avid bridge player, loved sewing, and needle crafts. She could always be counted on to make everyone’s favorite cookies and baked goods. She was a woman who showed great strength, understanding, love and support, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved by all that knew her. Cremation has taken place.
