Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Carbonear Long-Term Care Home, Michael Downey of Avondale, at the
age of 86 years. Predeceased by his son David in 2015, his parents: Patrick and Bridget (Bouzane) Downey, his sisters: Mary Margaret Wadden (John) and Carmel Morrison (John), and by his brothers: Bernard (Theresa), Thomas, John, and Cyril (Kit). Also pre-deceased by brother-in-law Tom Power, and sisters-in-law Marguerite Kenny and Marie Petten. Michael leaves to mourn his loving wife Dorothy, his granddaughters: Sarah and Samantha, his brother Gregory, and brothers-in-law: Richard Power (Agnes) and Leo Power (Martina). He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, within the extended Downey and Power families, as well as many friends and former co-workers within the welding trade. A special thanks to the staff at the Carbonear LTC Facility, for the compassionate care they gave Michael. Visitation on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 2 – 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, 366 Conception Bay Highway, Holyrood. Mass of Christian Burial to take place at the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, in Avondale on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Interment in Avondale RC Cemetery to follow.
