It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of George Anthony (Noonie) Jamael, 82, on January 13, 2018 after a short illness.
Born in Sydney on June 13, 1935, he was the son of the late George Jamael, Beirut, Lebanon and Mary (Lewis) Jamael, Canso, NS. He served briefly in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Germany. He worked most of his life with the Bill Lynch Shows. He had a passion for hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Debee Graham (Darren); his son, Allister McNeil; his sister, Patricia LeBlanc (Danny); his brother, Harold Jamael, and sisters-in-law, Kay Jamael (Tommy), Sydney, Alberta Jamael (Greg), Reserve Mines, Shirley McQueen (Harold), Ottawa and Bev Neville (Greg), Sydney. Also by his grandchildren, Gordon Graham, Jillian Graham, Amanda McNeil, Nicole McNeil, Allister McNeil, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Marie Lane (Baillie); siblings, Sr. Debee, Sonny, Thomas, and Gregory, as well as sister-in-law, Leona Jamael (Sonny).
Cremation has taken place and visitation is on Wednesday, January 17 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel in Sydney from 6-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Loaves and Fishes, Charlotte Street, Sydney, NS, or a charity of your choice.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care where George (Noonie) had resided for the past 5 years.
