The death occurred at the Western Hospital, Alberton on Wednesday January 17, 2018 of Melvin J. Allain of St. Edward aged 82 years. Beloved husband of the late Jean Allain nee Gallant. He was born in St. Edward on January 23, 1935, the son of the late Benjamin and Denise (Gaudet) Allain. Dear father to Marlene McKinnon (Doug), Charlottetown; Rodney Allain (Joyce), Sherwood Park, Alberta; Randy Allain (Marie), St. Edward; Tanya Caron (Francois), Summerside and Chanel Allain (Christina), Flat Rock, NFLD. Loving grandfather of Nicholas, Kerri Lee, Steven, Allison, Mallory, Marissa, Jacklyn, Alex, Dylan, Natalie, Andrea and David. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Jane Dugay, Zie Allain (Catherine); Philip Allain (Carmen), Nelda Arsenault, Phyllis Gaudet (Henry), Clifford Allain, Wayne Allain (Chris) and a sister-in-law Olive Allain. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Marie (Donaher (Gerald); Stevie Gallant (Cathy); Betty Gallant (Mel Hayward); Josie Jeffery (Jerry) and Wayne Gallant (Gay). He was predeceased by parents Benjamin and Denise, brothers Gerald, Henry and Maryanne in infancy, mother and father-in-law Edmund and Agnes Gallant, brothers-in-law Fred Dugay, George Arsenault, Freddie Gallant and Art Richard. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home for visiting hours Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Monday January 22, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery.
