It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Herbert Leonard Davies who passed away January 20, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loving family at his side. He was the son of the late Herbert and Alice Davies of Glace Bay, N.S.
Herb served 30 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He started his career in Montreal, QC, before moving to Newfoundland – stationed at Corner Brook, Bonne Bay, Nain, Stephenville and Burgeo until moving to Nova Scotia - serving in Arichat, Sydney, St. Peters and Antigonish before retiring as Detachment Commander in charge of Sydney Detachment.
He is survived by his wife, Ann (Allen); son, Todd (Lisa) Miramichi, NB; daughter, Joanne; cherished granddaughters, Danielle & Alicia Davies and Nicole Scott; grandson and best buddy, Michael Scott; sister, Joan Sandy of Calgary AB; brothers-in-law, Bud (Gertie) Allen, Floyd (Valda) Allen, Eric (Joyce) Allen and sisters-in-law, Pat Allen, Lorena (Don) Monette, Eva Allen; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Laura (Herman Shauger), Mary (Ed Sheppard), Clara (Eric Butts); brothers-in-law, George Sandy and Fraser Allen.
A Memorial service will take place Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the United Protestant Church in Sydney River, N.S. Arrangements under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay, N.S. with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating with assistance from retired Diaconal Minister, Joan Sandy. Donations may be made to charity of one’s choice.
