Dad was quite a character who liked to tell “tall tales”. He will be dearly missed on Alder Point Road where he made his daily rounds to share his “gift of gab”. Dad had a lifelong passion with detailing/selling used cars. Besides selling cars, he had many other employment experiences which include Stevedore at the CN, Owner/Operator of McNeil’s grocery in Alder Point, various construction positions including maintenance during the building of the PEI Confederation Bridge. Dad enjoyed his weekly trips to Halifax with “the boys” to grab the latest in car bargains.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Willie, Irene, Nathan, Gordon, Earl, Frances, Cameron and James.
Visitation for Dad will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, Alder Point with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Reception will be held at the Alder Point Hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers donations in David’s memory may be made to a charity of choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
A very special thank you to Dr. Philip Curry, his secretary Michelle, Dr. Michele McKeough, his secretary Louise, and the extraordinary nurses on Five East at the Northside General for their unending kindness, compassion and care for our dad.
We will always remember your kind heart and gentle soul. You will live on forever in the retelling of your “tall tales”.
